When I got to VT, my neighbor's house looked like this:

Just a few days later, it changed to this:

I got to watch as it was slowly, but visibly, lifted up in the air. So cool! Spring flooding was pretty intense last year, and lots of the older summer houses were below flood level- this is the solution.

Since this is supposed to be a knitting blog: hat! This is the result of not remembering to bring a hat with me to the great white north, which of course means I should just knit myself a new one. Which I did.

Yes, that's 7 size 1 dpns. I had to get really creative to get this hat done, given that most of my supplies are several hundred miles away and yarn stores close for entire days here. Finishing it involved magic loop with a 16" circular and a single dpn. I am super ninja.

Pattern is the Rustling Leaves Beret, from Coastal Knits. So much fun to make and the charts were super easy to memorize. I got most of the knitting done during Thanksgiving festivities. If I were the sort to make multiples of things this pattern would definitely be one of them.

Happy holiday season to everyone! Have you entered crazy knitting season yet? I'm off to struggle with SSS- Second Sleeve Syndrome.

  1. I love the pattern on the hat. It's super pretty. I'm so glad you are being productive in Vermont and it sounds like you are having a really great time.
